Historic Statues To Be Restored, Reinstalled

August 12th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

Several historic statues, mostly to leaders of the Confederacy, were destroyed during Black Lives Matter protests or removed by local governments. Now, some of those statues will be returned to their locations.  Local memorials historian Ed Taylor, Jr. told WCBC that among those will be the Confederate Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery where 16,000 Union and Confederate Civil War soldiers are buried…

“As you know in the summer of 2020, we lost a lot of historic sacred monuments in this country. Not just Confederate, but Revolutionary and the list goes on and on. Also, there’s several other Confederate monuments that are on Park Service property. The Park Service has been ordered by Donald Trump to get those monuments back up as soon as possible.”
