Governor Larry Hogan today announced the appointment of Jill Carter to the Maryland State Senate. The governor made the appointment following recommendations from the Baltimore City Democratic Central Committee. Ms. Carter will occupy the seat recently vacated by former Senator Nathaniel Oaks.

“Jill Carter’s dedication to Baltimore City and our state is admirable,” said Governor Larry Hogan. “I have no doubt she will serve the constituents of District 41 well.”

Jill Carter previously served in the Maryland House of Delegates from 2003-2017, where she chaired the Juvenile Law Subcommittee, the Estates and Trusts Subcommittee, and the Law and Justice Committee, as well as serving as a member of the House Judiciary Committee and the Administrative, Executive, Legislative, Regulations (AELR) Committee. She has served as counsel at The Craig Law Group in Baltimore for 14 years. Ms. Carter attended Loyola College for her undergraduate degree and received her law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law.

Ms. Carter will serve in the Maryland Senate until the election in November.
