On 06/17/2024 at approximately 11:30 AM the Cumberland City Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Humbird Street for an assault. Upon arrival officers located the victim and observed obvious injuries to their neck and body. Officers were advised the suspect Garrett Kniseley had struck the victim and strangled them. Kniseley had barricaded himself in a closet prior to officers’ arrival. Officers were able to get Kniseley to surrender and he was placed under arrest without issue. Kniseley was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center for central booking. Kniseley received a hearing before a District Court Commissioner and was held without bond. The victim in this matter was taken to a medical facility for their injuries.

Charges – Assault 1st Degree and Assault 2nd Degree
