Of the 94 Keyser water customers who responded to the survey question on May’s water bill, 72 indicated they would be in favor of a city ordinance fining property owners for vacant buildings. Twenty-two respondents opposed the idea. The City of Keyser placed the question on the water bills as an experiment to see if the mayor and council could get a better idea of how the public feels about the ordinance, which had originally been proposed by then-mayor Randy Amtower last year.
