On Sunday, August 20, 2023, at approximately 2:14 AM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department stopped a vehicle on S. Liberty Street. Officers approached the vehicle and contacted the occupants. The operator who was later identified as Issayah Fostion, fled from officers in the vehicle. As a result, one of the officers was struck in the side of his body by part of the vehicle. Officers were able to catch up to the vehicle and observe Fostion bail out and flee on foot. Police caught up to Fostion and were able to take him into custody. Fostion was arrested and later transported to Central Booking. He was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.

CHARGES: Assault-1st Degree, Assault-2nd Degree, Obstructing & Hindering, Resisting Arrest, DUI related charges, numerous traffic offenses
