Local Performer Passes

July 14th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

A caller to the WCBC Radio Auction on Monday passed along the news that Debra Williamson has died. Williamson and her husband Roger, both blind, were known locally for their music, specifically the song “It’s Christmastime in Cumberland.”  She also worked for the Division of Rehabilitation Services. The caller said Williamson had been recuperating from an illness…

“Two weeks ago, Debbie suffered a severe stroke. She was flown to Pennsylvania. They said they got the clot in time and she did not need surgery. They brought her back here to Allegany Nursing and Rehab for Rehabilitation. She then suffered another, more severe stroke.”

Her husband Roger was with her when she passed, but he also has health issues…

“Roger had a stroke several years back and has now declined into dementia – Alzheimer type problems.”
