On Saturday, December 2nd, 2023, The Cumberland City Police responded to a business in the 400 block of Maryland Ave for the report of an assault. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim of the alleged assault. They stated they had been punched by another patron in the store while attempting to check out. While speaking with the victim, the alleged assailant exited the store. The subject then began to curse at officers and was then observed throwing an item at the victim, striking them. At that time, officers placed Louis Levi Brown, 66, of Cumberland MD, under arrest. Brown was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
