On Sunday, November 20th, 2022 at 1137 hours, the Maryland State Police, McHenry Barrack, received a complaint of a 'road rage' incident that reportedly occurred on Interstate 68 eastbound at the 27 mile marker, near the Allegany County line.  Initial reports indicated that the male operator of an Acura SUV pointed a pistol at another motorist during the incident before continuing east into Allegany County.  A general broadcast was put out with the suspect and suspect vehicle information by the McHenry and Cumberland Barracks.  A short time later, Deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff's Office located the vehicle near the 45 mile marker of Interstate 68 in Allegany County.  The deputies were able to stop the vehicle without incident and identify several male and female occupants.

During the investigation deputies located a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, as well as a quantity of marijuana within the vehicle.  Ultimately, the operator, a 27 year old male from Montgomery County, Maryland was arrested and charged with possession of CDS, as well as possession of an illegal firearm.  In addition to the charges in Allegany County, Maryland State Troopers also charged the 27 year old male on a criminal warrant with first degree assault.

The Cumberland City Police Department assisted during the traffic stop and investigation until the initial scene was secure.
