McKay Named Co-Chair of Economic Stability Commission

October 2nd, 2019 by WCBC Radio

Delegate Mike McKay has been named as Co Chair of the state's Economic Stability Commission. He has released the following statement:

I am extremely honored to be named a Co-Chair of the Economic Stability Commission by new House Speaker, Adrienne Jones. This commission evolved from a Study Group with the same name established by the late House Speaker Mike Busch last year. The Study Group hosted several listening sessions across the state over the summer, including two at Allegany College, to hear directly from citizens and front-line service providers about how to strengthen the middle class in Maryland.

I am pleased that Speaker Jones has made a long-term commitment to this initiative by transitioning our study group to a State Commission. It is especially important to me that the voices of our rural communities are heard as we develop a path to financial independence across the state that meets the diverse needs of our struggling families.

Over the coming months, the Commission will meet and process the information gathered at the listening sessions with the goal of developing policy recommendations to advance during the 2020 Legislative Session set to begin in January.
