On Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023, The Cumberland City Police responded to the 300 block of Frederick St for the report of an assault. Upon arrival, officers contacted a victim and multiple witnesses inside the home. It was learned that an argument had started in the home between the victim and Michael Ellsworth Hochard over a social media post. The argument then escalated and Hochard was observed assaulting the victim, pushing them to the ground. The assault resulted in a minor injury to the victim, none of which required medical attention. As a result, Hochard was placed under arrest. He was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his Initial Appearance where he was released on his own personal recognizance.
