New Laws Target Reckless Drivers

October 1st, 2025 by WCBC Radio

New laws taking effect today in Maryland focus on reckless and aggressive driving. Driving 30 miles over the speed limit can now be classified as reckless driving with fines up to $1,000. Multiple minor violations in a single drive can now lead to aggressive driving charges, license points, and higher fines.  Rules around speed monitoring systems are also changing with a new tiered-fine system with fines starting at $40 and going as high as $425.
