The recommendations to close two elementary schools in Allegany County earlier this month has been met with some strong negative feedback thus far- however no decisions of any kind are expected until at least next year or later. The Board of Education retained the services of a firm to conduct a facilities utilization study. The recommendations included closing Parkside and Georges Creek elementary schools. School Board President Sara Beth Bittinger, during the regular board meeting, emphasized that there will be ample opportunity for the public to provide input- which will be taken into consideration before any decision is made.
