During the month of September 2025, Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division initiated an investigation into violations of Maryland’s Sexual Offender Registration Laws. As a result of the investigation, Detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Dekota Blake DeWitt, 25 years old, Oakland, with Failure to register as a sexual offender. On September 9, 2025, deputies arrested DeWitt on the strength of the arrest warrant. DeWitt was transported to the Garrett County Detention Center, where he was later released.
