On Tuesday May 16th, 2023 officers of the Cumberland Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the area of Virginia Avenue. During the course of the officer’s investigation into the traffic stop a k-9 was requested and a positive alert was indicated. While the officers were conducting this investigation, Brian Shelton had approached them and began to interfere with the investigation. The officers attempted to continue their investigation, but Shelton began creating a disturbance in attempt to interfere with the investigation, and was advised to discontinue his behavior. Shelton continued to interfere with the investigation and act in a disorderly manner to the point that officers had to pause their investigation to prevent any more of a disturbance. Officers advised Shelton he was being placed under arrest and he began to resist officers attempts to take him into custody. After a brief struggle Shelton was placed under arrest and taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was held on a $2,500 bond.
Arrest: Brian Shelton, age 36, Cumberland Maryland.
Charge: Obstructing and Hindering, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, Fail to Obey.
