Oil Spill At Baltimore Harbor

June 6th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

Crews are working on the cleanup of a 2,000-gallon oil spill in to Baltimore Harbor.  Contractors were filling fuel tanks for backup power generators for Johns Hopkins Hospital Wednesday night when the tanks overfilled, resulting in oil entering the harbor near Fells Point.  Governor Moore relayed that quick action by the Coast Guard is keeping the area of the spill to a minimum…

“The Coast Guard and the contractor are using oil-absorbing materials and skimmers that feed into a 4,000 gallon pump truck. That also includes in addition to the over 100 personnel who have worked through the night and as of this morning, we have no evidence to suggest there is any impact on drinking water in the area.”
