On Friday, September 29, 2023 at approximately 10:02 AM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department conducted a traffic stop on E. Oldtown Rd. at Wempe Drive.   The officer contacted the operator who was traveling with two passengers.  The officer learned that the rear passenger provided him with a false name to avoid apprehension.  This passenger’s true identity was Amber Westfall and the officer confirmed that she had an active bench warrant for her arrest.  Further investigation into the stop revealed that Westfall and the front passenger, Joshua Day, were in possession of suspected fentanyl and CDS paraphernalia.   Day was issued criminal citations and released pending trial.  Westfall was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing.  Westfall was served with the warrant which had been issued as the result of her failing to appear in court on May, 18, 2023 to answer for two charges of Theft less than $100.   She was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and released on her personal recognizance.
