Opioid Deaths Down Locally In Third Quarter Of 2019

Overdose deaths from opioids were down for the third quarter of 2019 with the data showing 11 fewer deaths than at the same time in 2018.  Just prior to the New Year, the Maryland Opioid Operational Command Center released the latest statistics concerning the battle against addiction.  The number of deaths in the first three quarters of this year totaled 18, compared to 29 recorded in 2018 during the same period of time. During a visit to the area, Governor Larry Hogan praised Allegany County Sheriff Craig Robertson for the work his department has done in disseminating information and educating young people to the dangers of opioids…
