WBAL reports the man who becomes Maryland's new attorney general next month is weighing in on the possible release of a report detailing sexual abuse allegations in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Attorney General-elect Anthony Brown said he has been monitoring efforts to release the report which names more than 100 priests accused of abuse and more than 600 victims dating back 80 years. Since it is based on grand jury testimony, current Attorney General Brian Frosh has asked a court to release the report. WTOP reports a nonprofit group based in Maryland said it is preparing for the arrival of migrants to the D.C. region following a recent wave of them crossing the U.S.-Mexico border near El Paso, Texas. Gov. Justice issues proclamations declaring extended half-day holidays
Gov. Jim Justice has issued two proclamations, declaring Friday, Dec. 23, 2022, and Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, as half-day state holidays for public employees. “In recognition of the hard work accomplished by the public employees of this State throughout the past year, and in acknowledgement of the holiday season, it is fitting and proper that the public employees of this State be given this additional time off to spend an extended and enjoyable holiday with their loved ones,” Gov. ACPS receives update on Implementation of Blueprint for Maryland’s Future
A $3.8 billion education plan was adopted unanimously this month, but there’s still more work ahead for the board that approved it to ensure that school officials implement it. The Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Accountability and Implementation Board, established by state law to administer the 10-year plan, will send a 185-page document to the governor, General Assembly and all 24 school systems.
