Troopers responded tractor trailer overturn
Troopers responded to E/B I68 east of Vocke Road for a collision near mile marker 41 at 11:21PM last night. Troopers determined that Amrit Pal Singh, 26 of Stoughton, CA. lost control of his 2017 Freightliner tractor trailer overturned in the roadway blocking all lanes of traffic. The driver was transported to UPMC for treatment of injuries. Charges are Pending. E/B I68 is currently CLOSED at the Vocke Road Exit. It is expected to be closed for an extended period of time. Laptops For Summer Camp
Children attending the Summer Day Camp sponsored by the Cumberland Parks and Recreation Department will be able to improve their computer skills over the school break. A donation of 30 refurbished laptops was made by Mark Widmyer on behalf of Senator Mike McKay’s office. A federal government program that Widmyer became familiar with while working with the Hogan administration is the source of the laptops - they are ones retired from government use and are refurbished and donated for community programs such as the Summer Camp at Constitution Park. Diane Clarke, Senior Staff Meteorologist with 45 years of experience in the field of meteorology and a specialty in broadcasting will be retiring tomorrow/ Thursday. PharmaCare Gets Edwards Funding
With over $6 million dollars in funding flowing into Allegany County from the Senator George Edwards Fund, there are 13 projects that can move forward to bring economic development to the area. One of the businesses receiving funding is PharmaCare. WCBC spoke with John Balch, President of the PharmaCare Network, and he said the funding they received will be used for government-mandated updates to their infusion center on Commerce Drive in Cumberland. PharmaCare Infusion Services does home infusion of IV medications for chemo, nutrition, antibiotics, pain management, and hydration. Former Frostburg CFO Passes
The Frostburg community is mourning the passing of former City Chief Financial Officer Candace Sandvick. She served the city for over 30 years in that position before her retirement in 2015. Sandvick was a graduate of Beall High School and Frostburg State University, receiving a degree in Accounting. She is survived by her husband, David Sandvick, former Pastor of the First English Baptist Church in Frostburg along with two daughters and four grandchildren. Durst Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the family.
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Set
The Cumberland City Council recently made a proclamation recognizing June 15th as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. WEAAD was officially recognized by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2011, following a request by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse, who first established the commemoration in June 2006. According to the US Department of Justice, only one in 24 cases of elder abuse is ever reported, suggesting that public awareness remains a critical need in the fight against elder abuse. U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) and Peter Welch (D-Vt.) introduced the E-Access Act, legislation to facilitate the clean energy transition by helping consumers access their utility data and share that data with third parties. HOV Allowing Electric Vehicles

Baltimore Street Bridge will be closed today at 3PM
Traffic Alert… Baltimore Street Bridge will be closed to thru traffic on Tuesday, June 13th, at 6pm through Thursday, June 15th, at 3pm in order to perform necessary construction for the bridge.
