Mayor says potential on Beall Street exit is high

Congressman David Trone will visit Allegany County Wednesday

Maryland Sixth District Congressman David Trone will visit Allegany County tomorrow (Wednesday)  and his schedule includes a discussion and update with city officials on the Fayette Street bridge.  Trone is trying to secure $4.8 million in federal funding for a new bridge to replace the damaged span. The two-lane Fayette Street bridge is one of three on the city’s West Side in various states of disrepair. Renovation of Greenway Avenue Stadium now complete

The multi million dollar, multi phase renovation of Greenway Avenue Stadium is now complete- restoring its status of one of the premier high school sports venues in the state. Among the upgrades: new visitors side bleachers; a new running track; along with improvements to the public walkways and to the storm water system. The project, including fundraising, got started in 2010. ARREST WARRANT SERVED

On Saturday, September 3, 2022, the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Kevin Snider Jr.  The warrant was issued in connection with an incident that occurred on September 2, 2022.  On this date at approximately 4:42 PM, units from the Cumberland Police Department and Cumberland Fire Department responded to the first block of Grand Avenue for a medical emergency.  Police contacted a male subject who was identified as Kevin Snider Jr.  Snider became combative with Emergency Services personnel and struck one of them with a closed fist.  A struggle ensued between Snider and police.  Snider began assaulting officers…

TRESPASSING ARREST

On Saturday, September 3, 2022 at approximately 10:00 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the area of George Washington Headquarters for an assault complaint.  During the course of the investigation, police contacted a male subject identified as Andrew Seifert.  It was learned that Seifert had been served with a No Trespass letter previously, barring him from the property.  Seifert was issued a criminal citation and released pending trial at District Court. Agricultural Sciences and Operations for grades 9-12 Students also have opportunity to participate in FFA at all three high schools in Allegany County Schools

After making a decision in 2015 to discontinue the program as a result of declining interest-  last year the Allegany County Board of Education chose to re-establish Agricultural Sciences and Operations for grades 9-12.
