Maryland Online Puppies, LLC, and Sara and Nathan Bazler Must Refund Payments for Sick Dogs, Pay Civil Penalties, and No Longer Sell Dogs in Maryland BALTIMORE, MD (August 5, 2022) – Maryland Attorney General Brian E. Frosh announced today that his Consumer Protection Division has reached a settlement with online puppy retailer Maryland Puppies Online, LLC and the company’s owners, Sara and Nathan Bazler (collectively, “Maryland Puppies”).  The settlement provides restitution to Maryland consumers, imposes civil penalties, and bans the company from selling dogs in Maryland.  The Division alleged that Maryland Puppies continued to sell puppies after the “No More…

Former Men’s Lacrosse Standout Geldart Named Head Coach at Young Harris

Men's Lacrosse Former FSU men's lacrosse player Branden Geldart has been named the head lacrosse coach at Young Harris College.  It is his first venture into a head coaching role, as he will take charge of the Mountain Lions, who compete at the Division II level in the Peach Belt Conference.  A four-year player for the Bobcats, Geldart has previously served as an assistant coach at Catholic University, Oberlin College, and Berry College.

Cumberland Police Sunday Arrest Report

***Adult Arrest*** On August 6th, 2022, The Cumberland City Police arrested Morgan Paige Grubb, 34, of Cumberland MD. Grubb was arrested on an outstanding Bench Warrant issued by the Allegany County Circuit Court. The warrant was issued on July 26th, 2022, when Grubb failed to appear in Circuit Court for a previous traffic arrest that occurred on November 19th 2019. Grubb was originally charged with driving on a revoked license, driving without a license, giving a false name to an officer, as well as other non-serious traffic offenses. Cresaptown Fire accidental

According to the Allegany County Department of Emergency Services, no injuries occurred when an electrical fire broke out in a Meadow Avenue residence just before 8 a.m. Thursday, according to the Allegany County Department of Emergency Services. Cresaptown Volunteer Fire Department Chief Chris Cage directed the incident response following alert of fire units from his department, Rawlings, Bowling Green and Ridgeley. The fire reportedly originated in a faulty electrical outlet in the basement of the single-story frame and damages were confined to that area. Renovations at Greenway on Display

The Cumberland Times News reports that after 12 years of renovations, Greenway Avenue Stadium is set to debut the upgrades during the Queen City Quad on Aug. 20. The most-recent phase saw upgrades to the visitors bleachers and the addition of an eight-lane track. The stadium will debut the new features during Fort Hill’s annual preseason scrimmage showcase. The most-recent phase also includes upgrades to the public walkways and storm water system. The renovations began in 2010 with updates to the home bleachers. The new track replaces an old seven-lane track

Fatal Fire in Pennsylvania

As many as 10 people are dead after a house fire early Friday in northeastern Pennsylvania, according to a volunteer firefighter who responded and said the victims were his relatives. Nescopeck Volunteer Fire Co. firefighter Harold Baker told the Citizens' Voice newspaper of Wilkes-Barre that the 10 victims the family expected to eventually be found included his son, daughter, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, three grandchildren and two other relatives. The fire in Nescopeck was reported around 2:30 a.m. One person was found dead inside the single-family home shortly after emergency responders arrived, while two other victims were found later in the morning.
