THEFT AND RESISTING ARREST

On Saturday, February 4, 2023 at approximately 2:52 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business in the 700 block of Park Street for a theft.  Police contacted the staff who reported that Aaron Soules stole merchandise from the store.  After further investigation, Soules was located at a nearby business and advised that he was under arrest.  Soules resisted the arrest, but officers were able to take him into custody after a brief struggle.  Soules was transported to Central Booking.  He was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and posted a $3,500 unsecured personal bond. BENCH WARRANT SERVED

On Saturday, February 4, 2023, the Cumberland Police Department served a bench warrant on Erin Rooney.  The warrant was issued as the result of Rooney failing to appear in court on December 13, 2022.  Rooney was originally charged with Driving without a License.  She was arrested and transported to Central Booking.  She was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and released on her personal recognizance. FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg Women's Basketball team hosted the fifth-ranked Glenville State Pioneers for a Saturday afternoon match-up at Bobcat Arena, falling by a score of 90-74. Centre Street closed to thru traffic between W Harrison Street and Frederick Street on Tuesday

The City of Cumberland Engineering Department, on behalf of Columbia Gas, would like to notify the public that Centre Street will be closed to thru traffic between W Harrison Street and Frederick Street on Tuesday, February 7th, and Thursday, February 9th, from the times of 7:00am to 5:00pm to allow Columbia Gas to work on their main. Police respond to Disturbance

A busy Friday for Cumberland  City Police. At approximately 8:12 AM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department had responded to a financial institution on Evitts Creek Drive for an alarm.  While on scene, unrelated to the alarm, the officer overheard a male subject yelling nearby.  The officer then observed Paul Lepley standing near the ATM, yelling obscenities and blocking other clients from using the ATM.  Lepley was told to stop creating a disturbance.  He refused to cooperate with the officer.  As a result, Lepley was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters.  Lepley was issued two criminal citations…
