Maryland Gas Prices Continues to Drop

The price of gasoline in Maryland continues to drop. The average price for regular unleaded fuel in the state on Tuesday was $4.15 per gallon. According to AAA last week, the average price in Maryland was $4.33. The state ranked at No. 25 on the list of all 50 states and Washington when it came to the cheapest regular fuel prices in the country. Maryland was 3 cents below the national average of $4.18. Updated Election Turnout Shows County with State Average

Now more than two weeks after the primary election, we clearly see how many people voted. The numbers aren't official yet, but based on the mail-in ballots received by the deadline, plus election day and early voting, around 26% of the state's eligible voters cast ballots for this year's primary.That is higher than the 24 and a quarter percent four years ago. Allegany County’s numbers jumped dramatically since election night when voter turnout was just 19%. After the latest count, Allegany County is at 26.58%, in line with the state average. Fatal Accident in Hagerstown

Maryland State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash in which one person died Tuesday afternoon in Washington County. At about 1:20 p.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Hagerstown Barrack responded to a report of a vehicle crash in the area of Downsville Pike at Rench Road in Hagerstown, Maryland. According to a preliminary investigation, a 2004 silver Toyota Highlander was traveling north on Downsville Pike prior to Rench Road, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the road to the right and overturned multiple times.  The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as John Thomas Green III,…

Governor Larry Hogan today announced that the State of Maryland will host the annual conference of the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) at Rocky Gap Resort in Flintstone, Maryland from October 17-19, 2022. UPDATE: I-68 re-open following TractorTrailer fire

Allegany County Emergency Services reports a tractor trailer fire on Interstate 68 East prior to Vocke Road. I-68 East is currently shut down. Units are on the scene. A second truck accident also reported on I-68 at 36 mile marker. Traffic is being rerouted through Frostburg. 

Delegate Howell presents Ridgeley and Carpendale with state grants

Today Delegate Gary Howell presented two LED Assistance grants from Governor Jim Justice, through the House of Delegates, one to the town of Ridgeley and another to the town Carpendale.  The grants are for landscaping equipment.

PA Turnpike tolls to rise 5% in January

The cost to drive the Pennsylvania Turnpike in 2023 will jump 5% and the commission that oversees the 550-mile toll-road system plans staggered declining increases annually through 2050. Commission members approved the upcoming rate increase Tuesday. It takes effect Jan. 8 and applies to all E-ZPass and Toll By Plate customers. The most common toll for passenger vehicles using E-ZPass will rise to $1.80 from $1.70, according to the commission. Priates, Orioles and Nationals all making deals at MLB Trade Deadline

The Padres and Nationals are in agreement on a deal that sends Soto and first baseman Josh Bell to San Diego, Morosi reports. San Diego will send back rookie shortstop C.J. Abrams, top outfield prospect Robert Hassell III, right-hander Jarlin Susana and top outfield prospect James Wood.  The Twins and Orioles are in agreement on a trade sending All-Star closer Jorge Lopez from Baltimore to Minnesota, as first reported Andy Kostka of the Baltimore Sun. The Twins are sending left-handed pitching prospect Cade Povich, right-hander Yennier Cano and a pair of pitching prospects to Baltimore in return. Governor Issues Update on State of Maryland’s Response to Human Monkeypox Outbreak

Governor Larry Hogan and the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) today issued an update on the state’s operational response to the human monkeypox outbreak, including efforts to make testing, vaccination, and public health resources widely available for high-risk populations. “Since before our first monkeypox case was identified, the state has been mounting an aggressive response to this outbreak in coordination with local and regional partners,” said Governor Hogan. “While vaccine supply from the federal government is severely limited at this time, anyone who believes that they may need testing or treatment should contact their healthcare provider or local health department…
