Police looking for attempted murder suspect
Police are on the lookout for a Cumberland man who allegedly attempted to suffocate a woman early Monday at a residence in the 23000 block of McMullen Highway, according to the Allegany County Sheriff's Office. Donald Dewayne Corbin, 37, was wanted on charges of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and related charges. A warrant was issued for his arrest Tuesday in district court. Corbin reportedly fled the residence following the incident and prior to the arrival of deputies. The victim suffered injuries to her face and neck, police said. New Congressional Map could impact Trone’s re-election effort
The National Republican Congressional Committee has added Representative David Trone to its 2022 target list. Trone is the only member of Maryland’s U.S. House delegation on the list of now 70 Democratic representatives that the NRCC considers “vulnerable” for 2022. 19 Frederick Street Negotiations Fall Through
Negotiations to secure a developer for the 19 Frederick Street building have broken off- and city officials now plan to start from scratch by way of a new request for proposals.The Cumberland Economic Development Corporation issued a request for proposals from developers last September and received 23 letters of interest laying out ideas for the building. One proposal ultimately emerged as a front runner with plans for a beverage and hospitality related business. Marilyn Mosby trial officially postponed to September
In February, after her indictment charges, Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby requested a speedy trial. On Friday, court documents showed she wanted it postponed to September, and the new date has been granted. According to documents obtained by WBAL, the change was made "at the request of the Defense and for good cause shown." Mosby's attorney, Scott Bolden, alleges the U.S. Attorney's Office is engaged in a rolling production, which does not allow his client enough time to start the trial in May.
