The Salvation Army is wrapping up its annual holiday push today- the second consecutive year that organization has had to raise funds during the COVID-19 pandemic. No New COVID Outbreaks in Public School System
For the 6-day period of December 17-22, 2021, there were no new schools identified with a School Wide COVID-19 Outbreak. The following schools remain on the Maryland Department of Health School Wide Outbreak list: Allegany High School, Fort Hill High School, Mountain Ridge High School, and Mount Savage School. George's Creek Elementary School and Washington Middle School each had cohorts that met the definition of a cohort outbreak. Local Health Officials Urge Public to get tested before Holiday Gatherings
The Allegany County Health Department and the Maryland Department of Health are urging the public to consider getting tested for COVID prior to hosting or attending holiday gatherings this season. Police Serve Criminal Summonses
On December 22nd, 2021 an officer of the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Shandi Renee Porter-Wahl. The criminal summons was issued by District Court, regarding a theft that occurred on a Queen City Drive business on December 12th, 2021. During the initial theft report it was alleged that Porter-Wahl had taken items from the busines and left the business without paying for the items. Porter-Wahl was served with the criminal summons and released pending trial. Tractor Trailer Rollover at Truck Stop
On December 22, 2021 Cumberland Police Department officers responded to Love’s Truck Stop for the report of a tractor trailer rollover. Upon arrival officers observed a tractor trailer to have rolled over as it turned in to the rear lot of Love’s Truck Stop. The driver, Roderick L. Brown, advised that his truck rolled over as he turned left in to the rear parking lot, and struck another truck that parked in the area. No injuries were reported.
Police Serve Arrest Warrants
On December 22nd, 2021 officers of the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Jessica Lynn Miller. The arrest warrant was issued by District Court for Miller failing to appear for court on December 21st, 2021, for an original charge of theft less than $100, that had occurred in April 2019 at a Queen City Drive business. Miller was placed under arrest and transported to Central Booking for processing. Miller was taken before the Allegany County District Court Commssioner for an initial bond hearing.
