Police Identify Burglary Suspect

On Monday, December 13, 2021 the Cumberland Police were called to a business in the 600 block of N. Centre St, Cumberland for a report of a possible burglary.  Upon arrival, officers spoke to the business owner who advised that the cash register was missing from the business.  Officers were able to watch video footage of the suspect entering the business and stealing the cash register.  The suspect was identified and charges are pending. 

Police Make Assault Arrest

On Monday, December 13, 2021 the Cumberland Police responded to the 400 block of Chestnut St, Cumberland, for a report of an assault.  Upon arrival officers contacted Malik Barnard Freeman, age 24, of Cumberland MD.  Freeman was argumentative with officers and was impeding their ability to conduct an investigation into the assault.  Freeman was in possession of a knife at the time.  He was placed under arrest due to the disturbance he was creating.  As officers were able to further their investigation it was learned that Freeman had assaulted a male at the residence.  During the altercation, Freeman had obtained…

ACPS Bus Route Changes

ACPS Bus #42 for Braddock Middle School will combine with ACPS Bus #58 in the AFTERNOON ONLY beginning today and until further notice. This change will result in students getting dropped off approximately 20 minutes later.

Justice Comments on Winter COVID Concerns

West Virginia Governor Jim Justice, during his latest coronavirus briefing, reported that he received an alarming text from Dr. Clay Marsh, the state’s top covid-19 pandemic adviser. Maryland DNR Plans Trout Stocking

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced plans to stock 300,000 trout in Maryland waters. Preseason trout stocking begins this week.  The annual stocking will be completed in three bursts, preseason from now through February and spring stocking March 14 –25 and April 18 – 29. Updates will be provided for all open locations once stocking is complete.  All stocked locations that fall under a closure period will be announced prior to opening day on March 26, 2022.
