Agencies hosting Day of Access to Treatment
Health care-related agencies and counseling services are coming together Tuesday to host a Day of Access to Treatment in Cumberland to share resources for those challenged by opioid and other addictions. The event, to be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Western Maryland Railway Station parking lot, will feature a wide variety of services, resources and information related to recovery from substance misuse. Police Serve Criminal Summons
On August 26th, 2021 an officer of the Cumberland Police Department served a Criminal Summons on Jamie Clark Dolly. The Criminal Summons was issued by the District Court stemming from an alleged assault that occurred on August 19th, 2021. Dolly signed for her paperwork and awaits her trial at District Court. Nowaczyk Comments on FSU Vaccination Rates
Frostburg State University’s fall semester is underway and the early numbers pertaining to COVID vaccination rates on campus are encouraging. ACPS Bus Delay Expected Today
ACPS bus #8 for Fort Hill High School and Washington Middle School; bus #8 for Flintstone Elementary School; and bus #2 and bus #60 for Flintstone Elementary School may be late this afternoon dropping students off at their stops due to a tractor trailer that has become stuck on Town Creek Road near Punkin Center. The buses will need to detour, which may affect drop-off times for some stops by 30 minutes. The Maryland Public Service Commission will hold virtual public comment hearings on the request by Columbia Gas of Maryland, Inc. to increase its gas distribution rates by $6.1 million. Governor Hogan Announces $3.7 Million for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
Governor Larry Hogan today announced that $3.7 million in electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure is being awarded to 37 sites using funds from Maryland’s settlement with Volkswagen (VW) for air pollution violations. “For more than six years now, Maryland has been setting an example for the nation of strong environmental leadership,” said Governor Hogan. “This is another important step forward to expanding access to electric vehicle charging across the state and encouraging more Marylanders to purchase and use electric vehicles.” The state is funding 36 new public fast chargers at 13 locations and 145 workplace charging ports at 24 business…
Traffic Stop Nets CDS Arrest
On August 25th, 2021 an officer of the Cumberland Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Valley Street and Independence Street. After contact was made with the operator and occupant, Kristy Nicely, the officer requested a K-9 team to respond. Upon the K-9 teams arrival they conducted a scan of the vehicle indicating a positive alert. After a subsequent search officers located a controlled dangerous substance, as well as paraphernalia belonging to Nicely.
