Canal Place Task Force to Issue Final Report
Created in 2018, the hope is that the Canal Place Task Force will issue it’s final report in the coming months. The seven-member task force, chaired by Delegate Jason Buckel, was created by legislation to examine the future viability of Canal Place and whether any changes were needed. City Still Awaiting Date for NTSB Review of CSX Bridge Complaint
Still no date has been announced by the National Surface Transportation Board to hear a complaint filed by the city of Cumberland and Allegany County against CSX in regards to the future of the Washington Street Bridge. That bridge, which spans railroad tracks, has been closed for several years, frustrating residents as well as motorists who travel the West Side. New COVID Testing Site in Garrett County Postponed
Lacking adequate space for parking, the opening of a new COVID-19 testing site at Garrett Regional Medical Center, assisted by the Maryland National Guard has been postponed. The site, at 69 Wolf Acres Drive, had been scheduled to open last Thursday. On January 22nd, 2022 officers of the Cumberland Police Department served a Criminal Summons on Caitlin Crabtree. The Criminal Summons was issued by the District Court stemming from a burglary investigation on November 26th, 2021. The Independent Investigations Division of the Office of the Attorney General is investigating the death of a man in-custody at a Maryland State Police (MSP) barrack. On January 21, at 7:36 p.m., MSP troopers conducted a traffic stop on a black Cadillac DTS sedan on U.S. 301 at McGinnes Road. Police Investigating License Plate Theft
The Maryland State Police in McHenry are investigating the theft of a license rear license plate from a 2007 Ford E350 van belonging to the Beitzel Corporation. The vehicle was parked at the Park-N-Ride located along Maryland Route 42 north of the Good to Go convenience store in Friendsville, Maryland.
