Trailer Fire in Oldtown
Almost three dozen firefighters responded to a fire in Oldtown Tuesday morning. The fire was called in by a neighbor at 11:12 a.m. at Old Braddock Trail in Oldtown. A house trailer on the property sustained $3,000 in damage. The trailer was owned by James Fort and the fire took 20 minutes to extinguish. No injuries were sustained. Squatters have been known to be using the trailer as a shelter. The trailer had not been permanently inhabited since approximately 2003. False Report in Westernport Ties up Authorities for Hours
Authorities have made an arrest in Westernport due to a false report of a juvenile hostage. Ashley Nicole Miller, 41, reported that two subjects were currently holding a juvenile at gunpoint in a Front Street residence. Because of Miller’s report, The Allegany County Special Operations Response Team (S.O.R.T) composed of Sheriff’s deputies, and Cumberland Police officers was deployed to the home. After approximately 2 hours, investigators determined that Miller’s complaint was false. She was treated by Tri-Towns Ambulance and later transported to UPMC. Law Enforcement Searching For Missing Elderly Man
Maryland State Police, the Allegany County Sheriff's Office, and Cumberland City Police are searcing the area of Moss Avenue near the county fairgrounds for a missing elderly man. The white male was last seen wearing a plaid shirt and has a white beard.
Arrest Warrants Served
On Monday, December 30, 2024, Officers of the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Tristen Dorsey. The warrant was issued as a result of an incident that occurred on December 27, 2024, in the single-digit block of Cresap Street. Officers responded for the complaint of an assault. Upon arrival, it was learned that Dorsey had fled after assaulting multiple persons inside the residence. Town Clock Dedication Will Be Live-streamed Wednesday

DNR “First Day” Hikes
People with a New Year’s resolution to get outside can join the Maryland Department of Natural Resources for several different “First Day” hikes in Western Maryland. Dans Mountain State Park will feature a 4.5 mile hike on the Lonacona Loop starting at 11am New Year’s Day. At Rocky Gap State Park, the Run With A Ranger, a 1.5 mile trail run will start at 10am, while a 1-mile hike starts at 11am followed by a more challenging 4-mile hike at 1pm. The Rocky Gap events start at the Rocky Gap Nature Center. All events are free.

Bench Warrant Arrest
On Monday, December 30, 2024, Officers of the Cumberland Police Department served a bench warrant on Jonathon Tomko for violating the terms of his probation. Tomko was originally charged with a sex offense in the third degree. Tomko was arrested and taken to the Allegany County Commissioner where he was held without bond. Trespassing, CDS Arrest
On Monday, December 30, 2024, Officers of the Cumberland Police Department were conducting a routine foot patrol in the Western Maryland Scene Railroad area when they observed a male sleeping in a posted no-trespassing area. Officers then arrested the male, who was later identified as David McMillan. A search of McMillian's person yielded a controlled dangerous substance and paraphernalia. McMillian was issued multiple criminal citations and released pending his trial at Allegany County District Court. Arrest: David Richard McMillan, Age 33, Cumberland, Maryland.
