The Rosenbaum Building is holding an event Tuesday afternoon with invitations going out to downtown businesses, the mayor and council, and the media. An item will be displayed on the first floor between 1:30 and 2 p.m. Garrett Eagan and Chris Hendershot are the owners of the Rosenbaum Building.
WCBC AM Off-Air For Maintenance Today

West Virginia DCR Graduates New Officers
Governor Jim Justice and the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation celebrated the graduation of 52 new officers and staff last week. This year alone, the WV DCR has welcomed 429 graduates into its ranks, steady with the number of 2023 graduates. Corrections and Rehabilitation officers oversee West Virginia’s 11 prisons, 10 regional jails, juvenile centers, parole services, youth reporting centers and work-release sites.

Interest Rate Cut May Be On The Way
The Federal Reserve said it is ready to start cutting its key interest rate from it current 23-year high. There was no timeline of when the cuts would begin or how large they may be. The announcement follows news that inflation fell to 2.5% in July, only slightly above the central bank’s 2% inflation target. BENCH WARRANT SERVED
On Sunday, September 1, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department served a Circuit Court bench warrant on Johnathin Woodward. The warrant was issued as the result of Woodward violating probation. He was originally charged with Assault-2nd Degree. Woodward was arrested and transported to the Allegany County Detention Center where he is currently being held pending his initial appearance before the court. County School Admins Attend Safety Training
Allegany County public school administrators attended a two-day safety training this summer as part of their preparation to keep schools and students safe. In attendance were Cumberland City Police, Frostburg Police, the Sheriff’s office, Emergency Services, and Allegany College of Maryland. Drills were held focusing on the standard response protocol put in place last year using the action terms HOLD, SECURE, LOCKDOWN, EVACUATE, and SHELTER.
