On April 12th 2024 The Cumberland Police Department responded to a Fraud complaint that occurred at a business in the 100blk of Baltimore St. Investigation revealed that an unknown female suspect had removed a sum of US Currency unlawfully from the victim's bank account while using the ATM at the business drive thru. Video footage was received from the business and the public's assistance was requested in identifying the suspect. Important Closures to Note for Holiday

Some important closures to note for the upcoming Memorial Day Holiday – Cumberland’s City Hall will be closed with no employees available.  Trash pickup will not occur on Monday in the city – those who have trash pickups on Monday will resume on Thursday. All county and state government offices, including schools will be closed for the holiday as well. Emergency services will operate normally.

Pools Set to Open Over Memorial Day Weekend

Swimming pools throughout the area are set to open over the Memorial Day weekend.  The Dan’s Mountain pool will open on Saturday at 11am, the Frostburg Community Pool will be opening at 11:30am, and the pool at Constitution Park will be opening at Noon.  Beaches at Rocky Gap and Deep Creek State Parks will also be open for the weekend.  Cumberland Parks & Rec Director Ryan Mackey says Constitution Park pool has a number of ways to save money this summer…

F.O.P. Calls Out County On Manpower

A critical manpower shortage is being called out by the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 144.  Currently, just two Sheriff’s Department deputies work per shift to cover all of Allegany County.  In a letter released to the media, the FOP is making a request for the public’s support in the allocation of 12 additional sworn deputies for the patrol division. The letter states that the FOP has made numerous attempts to meet with county officials on staffing issues within the Sheriff’s department. DNR Offering Annual Passes for Park Admission and Use

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is making annual passes available as the summer season approaches.  The cost is $75 for Maryland residents and $100 for out of state visitors.  The pass provides unlimited day use admission and boat launching, plus a ten per cent discount on concessions and boat rentals at all state parks. County Union for Firefighters and EMS to Vote Tuesday

Trump Endorses Morrisey for Governor

In a Truth Social media post, former President, and candidate, Donald Trump has endorsed current Republican West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey for Governor.  Saying that Morrissey has his complete and total endorsement, Trump commented that Morrisey would not let the people of West Virginia down.
