Lights On The Lake Opens Saturday

For the fourth year, the Western Maryland Jaycees’ Lights on the Lake fundraiser returns to Rocky Gap State Park. Starting Saturday, November 30 and running through Christmas Eve, the display features festive lights and community activities on the weekends. More lights have been added this season. Admission is $5 per car and the display is open nightly 6pm to 9pm. Weekend events include crafts, visits with Santa, Alpacas, and a miniature steam train.

Cumberland Mayor & Council Will Meet December 3

The Mayor and City Council of Cumberland will meet in public session beginning at 4:45 p.m. in the 2nd floor Conference Room of City Hall on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, for the purpose of immediately closing the meeting to discuss the terms of a new employment agreement with the City Administrator and to receive the advice of the City Solicitor in regard to the same.  Authority to close the session is provided by Section 3-305(b)(1) and (b)(7) of the General Provisions Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland. Cumberland Traffic adjustments and No Parking in effect today

The Annual City of Cumberland Tree Lighting and Holiday Parade will take place tonight from 5p.m. to 8p.m. To ensure the safety of attendees and minimize traffic disruptions, several temporary changes to the downtown traffic pattern will be implemented. These measures will help maintain smooth traffic flow while accommodating the event. High School Football Playoffs Continue This Weekend

All three local high schools still in the playoffs are in action this Saturday.  Northern Garrett takes on the SEED School at noon in Baltimore.  Fort Hill is at Perryville Saturday at 1 p.m.  WCBC’s coverage begins at noon with Rock Cioni, Jim Zamagias, Mike Connelly, and Brad Reed.  The Frankfort Falcons host Bluefield at 4 p.m.  Coverage begins at 3 p.m. on Classic Hits 107 with Tony Orndoff and Adam Sterne.  

Downtown Business Owners Depending on Small Business Saturday

Now that the downtown construction project has had its official unveiling, Small Business Saturday, happening tomorrow, means even more to downtown businesses. The newest song from Country Singer Suzy Nash made its debut at midnight on all streaming services, along with a music video featuring the Cumberland area.  “Heartbeat of A Small Town” is a song that was originally intended for Reba McIntyre, but Nash’s husband Al Moskowitz says it immediately opened up memories of living in Western Maryland… “I looked down and went “heartbeat of a small town” huh? Board Will Look At Funds For Bel Air Rec Complex

Maryland’s Board of Public Works will vote on funding at its December 4 meeting for improvements to the Bel Air Community Recreation Complex.  Open Space funding of just under $53,000 is being recommended for improvements including playground equipment, new batting cages, bocce ball and shuffleboard courts, and other amenities.  

Tree Lighting Features Longer Parade Route This Year
