Hose Company Doors To Be Restored
A grant from Preservation Maryland will enable the restoration of two exterior doors on the historic Canada Hose House on North Mechanic Street. The building which is one of Cumberland’s oldest, is undergoing a renaissance since being acquired by the Allegany County Historical Society. PFC Cramer Attends DUI Institute
Twenty-six officers from law enforcement agencies across the state graduated from the University Of Maryland’s DUI Institute. The 40-hour program develops leaders in the enforcement of alcohol-impaired driving laws, sobriety testing and checkpoints, DUI courts, and testimony. The program originated in 2003 and over 500 officers have participated. Among the most recent graduates is Patrolman First Class Duncan Cramer from the Cumberland Police Department.

Henderson Ave Assault, Disorderly Conduct Arrest
On Thursday, June 20th, 2024, a Cumberland Police Officer on patrol in the area of Henderson Ave, observed two male subjects actively fighting each other in the roadway. The officer then exited his patrol vehicle and separated the two subjects, detaining them both. It was discovered that the two subjects had been involved in a “road rage” incident which led to both men exiting their respective vehicle and engaging in the observed assault. Mt. Royal Ave Assault Arrest
On Thursday, June 20th, 2024, the Cumberland City Police responded to a residence in the 800 block of Mt. Royal Ave for the report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers contacted one of the involved parties who advised they had been involved in a verbal altercation with another subject who had left the area on foot prior to officers’ arrival on scene. On Thursday, June 20th, 2024, the Cumberland City Police arrested Jessica Noel Schultz, 29, of Cumberland MD. Schultz was arrested on an active Arrest Warrant issued in reference to an incident that occurred on May 28th. During that incident, The Cumberland Police responded to 500 block of East Second St for the report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers located several individuals involved in a large disturbance. Cumberland City Hall Closed to the Public
City Hall will be closed to the public beginning Thursday, June 20 and plans to reopen to the public on Monday, July 8 due to construction in the building. Staff will be relocated to continue serving our residents, with Tax and Utility and Parking being moved to the Willetts Building at 446 N. Mechanic Street. Maryland State Police Aviation Command this morning rescued an injured logger who fell from a tree limb in Grant County, West Virginia. Trooper 5, a crew based in Cumberland, Maryland, conducted the hoist mission with assistance on the ground from Grant County rescue personnel. First responders requested an aerial rescue due to the severity of the logger’s injuries, the challenging terrain and the anticipated prolonged extraction time.
