On Monday, May 27th, 2024, the Cumberland City Police responded to the area of Jane Frazier Village on Sommerville Ave for the report of a disturbance. Once on scene, Officers located multiple people involved in a verbal disturbance. Officers were able to separate the individuals and numerous subjects were advised to leave the premises after they were found not to be residents. One subject continued to be argumentative and was observed returning to the property. On Monday, May 27th, 2024, the Cumberland City Police responded to a business in the 700 Block of Park St for the report of a theft. Once on scene, officers contacted an employee and witness to the theft. They advised a white male was observed pushing a cart of groceries out the door without attempting to pay for them. On Monday, May 27th, 2024, the Cumberland City Police served a Criminal Summons on Kaylee Nichole Jacobs, 29, of Cumberland MD. The summons was in reference to an incident that occurred on May 24th at a residence in the 400 block of Columbia St. During that incident, it is alleged that Jacobs was observed on the property multiple times after being advised not to do so by the owner. Maryland and West Virginia are among 29 states who have joined a lawsuit by the U.S. Department of Justice against Live Nation—owner of Ticketmaster—for alleged antitrust violations. The suit alleges Live Nation and Ticketmaster’s merger created a monopoly in the entertainment industry, stifling competition. May 29th is the deadline to enter recipes for the Governor’s Buy Local Cookout, scheduled for July 18. Maryland chefs and restaurants may submit original recipes using local ingredients. The recipe must include 50% Maryland-sourced products. High school and college teams are also encouraged to submit recipes. More details are available on the Maryland Department of Agriculture Facebook page. Selected teams go to Annapolis to prepare and share their dish at the Governor’s cookout.
