Fort Hill and Mountain Ridge Both Play Friday at 6

The Fort Hill Sentinels have advanced to the state semifinals and will host Cambridge South Dorchester Friday at 6 p.m.  Coverage on WCBC begins at 5 p.m.   Mountain Ridge hosts Perryville at 6 p.m.  Paul Miller will provide reports. TOP 25 High School Basketball Programs return to Western Maryland

Several nationally-ranked TOP 25 high school boys basketball programs return to Western Maryland on December 14th at Garrett College for the inaugural Western Maryland Classic. Former Bishop Walsh Elite Basketball Coach Dan Prete is the organizer of the event, and detailed the level of talent that people can expect at this year's showcase. Police Dispatched to UPMC Western Maryland Hospital for an Assault in Progress

On November 18, 2023, Officers of the Cumberland Police Department were dispatched to UPMC Western Maryland Hospital in reference to an assault in progress. Officers were advised that the subject in question was discharged approximately eight hours earlier. The subject was identified as Andrew James Clopper by security personnel.  Security Officers stated that the subject began arguing with other patients and was asked to leave the premises. Officers were advised that the subject had just assaulted a male subject in the parking lot. An additional witness came forward and stated she observed the subject kick and hit the victim. Officers…

Allegany County Sheriff’s Arrest Report

Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and Maryland State Police have combined resources to target open and active warrants. As a result, the following individuals have been apprehended. Friday, November 17, 2023 Justin Matthew Winebrenner, 26 of Lonaconing, was arrested on a Body-Attachment for failure to appear for a Child Support hearing. He was later released on his own recognizance. Tanya Lynn VanMeter of Midland, was arrested as a Fugitive from Justice out of Mineral County, West Virginia for assault. Men’s Basketball Defeated in Conference Opener by Davis & Elkins

Frostburg State Men's Basketball team dropped their opening conference game on Saturday afternoon, falling to Davis & Elkins on the road by a final score of 85-57. D&E came out hot, scoring in the first 30 seconds of play, starting out with a 9-0 run. Frostburg struggled to get going on offense, not getting on the board until four and a half minutes into the game on a layup in the paint by junior Sebastian Gahse.
