MSP Continue Search for Missing Woman
Maryland State Police are asking for the public's assistance in helping locate a missing woman in Garrett County. Lindsey Doerr, 39, was reported missing on Nov. 11 and was last seen on Nov. 4 in the area of 500 block of Doerr Road in Accident, Garrett County, Maryland. She was last seen wearing a blue tank top, black colored pants, carrying golf clubs in the wooded area. Several searches of property, where she was last seen, have been completed by volunteers and law enforcement that has been met with negative results. Mountain Ridge Holds NHS Induction
The Mountain Ridge High School Chapter of the National Honor Society recently held its induction ceremony for the 2023-2024 school year welcoming 73 new members to the organization. The NHS recognizes juniors and seniors who display outstanding accomplishment in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership and character. Students are required to have a grade point average of 3.7 or higher in order to apply for membership into the organization. Hope Scholarship Opinion Supports WV Student Rights

$3 Million in funding to West Virginia Counties to assist Fire Services
Governor Jim Justice has announced $3million in funding going to West Virginia counties to assist their fire services. Resources will be available to all 55 counties in the state for fire departments and emergency medical services. Funds may be used for personal protective equipment, facilities upkeep and purchase or upgrade of rescue, communications, or ambulance equipment.
Nationally-Ranked High School Basketball programs return to Western Maryland on December 14th
Several nationally-ranked TOP 25 high school boys basketball programs return to Western Maryland on Decemebr 14th at Garrett College for the inaugural Western Maryland Classic. Allegany High School Tournament of Bands
The Allegany High School Marching Band has set a Maryland record, becoming the first three-time consecutive Atlantic Coast Champions this past Saturday. The band competed against nine other qualifying Group 1-Open high school bands from across multiple states and ended up having a first place record tie with New Jersey school, Raritan High School. The band’s 2023 show “Up to the Skies”, not only won first place, but also Best Music. AES Warrior Run still No End Date for Coal Operations
AES Warrior Run was in the news again on Thursday in a Baltimore Sun article. AES had announced earlier this year that the plant would cease burning coal at the end of May, 2024. According to the article, AES is still evaluating other power generation options for the Allegany County site. Warrior Run is the last plant in the state to share an end date for its coal operations. AES had reached a deal in the spring with Potomac Edison to end the power purchase agreement between the companies earlier than its 2030 expiration.
