Mayor Comments on Blighted Properities

During the Mayor and Council work session this week, the recently signed agreement with Teabow Residential was reviewed.  Mayor Ray Morriss says that the first step in revitalizing a city is getting rid of blight, and Teabow will be working to fill those empty spaces in town with new construction… For existing housing, Mayor Morriss says work is being done on that front as well…

FSU Chapter of American Marketing Association in Collegiate Conference

Frostburg State University’s chapter of the American Marketing Association recently participated in a collegiate conference in New Orleans and secured outstanding chapter awards in three of seven categories for work in Professional Development, Fundraising and Chapter Planning. In the Professional Development category, FSU’s team organized 13 workshops and professional development events that resulted in networking opportunities, job placements and internships for chapter members.

Income Eligibility Guidelines for Special Supplemental Nutrition Program

The West Virginia Department of Health has updated income eligibility guidelines for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children or WIC.  The new guidelines allow a family of four earning $57,720 annually to qualify for WIC program benefits, a $2,220 increase from 2023. The guidelines were adjusted to account for recent inflation over the past year.

Traffic Stop Finds Paraphenalia

On Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at approximately 11:42 AM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Park Street.  One of the occupants, Dana Harris, was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.  Harris was issued a criminal citation and released pending trial.
