Baltimore Street Bridge closed Tuesday and Wednesday

Baltimore Street Bridge will be closed to thru traffic on Tuesday, March 12th, at 7am through Wednesday, March 13th, at 5pm. The bridge will be reopened to one-way traffic flowing from Mechanic Street to Greene Street. A detour will be in place to direct vehicles around the site, during the temporary closing.  

BENCH WARRANT SERVED

On March 11th, 2024 the Cumberland Police Department served a bench warrant on Teresa Louise Walter. The warrant was issued as a result of Walter failing to appear for court from original charges of trespassing and failure to obey a lawful order. Walter was arrested and transported to Central Booking. She was later seen by a District Court commissioner and released on her own recognizance. Blink Charging Will Locate in PG County

Governor Wes Moore today announced that Blink Charging Co., a leading global provider of electric vehicle charging equipment, is establishing its global headquarters at a 15,000 square-foot facility at 17301 Melford Boulevard in Prince George’s County. Warrant Arrests for March 8

From the Allegany County Sheriff's Department:  Warrant Arrests – Friday, March 8, 2024 Dustin Wayne Youngblood, 31 of Cumberland, was served two (2) Circuit Court Bench Warrants for Failure to Appear. He has numerous CDS charges including CDS Distribution-Narcotics. He is being held without bond pending a bail review in Circuit Court. Shanna Nicole Roy, 38 of McCoole, was arrested on a District Court Warrant for two (2) counts of Fail To Send Child To School. She was released on her own recognizance. UPDATE – City Hall Elevator Still Accessible

The City of Cumberland's repairs to the City Hall elevator have been delayed until further notice.  The elevator is still available for public use.  The City will continue to update as the information becomes available.  A previous announcement said the elevator would be unavailable through April.

Bridge Closure Rescheduled for Tuesday & Wednesday

The Baltimore Street Bridge Closure will be rescheduled for Tuesday, 3/12, and Wednesday, 3/13. The closure will begin at 7am on Tuesday and reopen at approximately 5pm on Wednesday. Sorry for any inconvenience

“Buffer In A Bag” Available from DNR

Free trees are available from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources to create “backyard buffers.”  Free tree seedlings to landowners who have creek, drainage ditch, stream, or other waterway can get a free “buffer in a bag” to create green infrastructure throughout the state. Mercer County Drug Bust

A large drug bust in Mercer County, West Virginia has seized 208 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, 21 guns, and close to 4 ounces of fentanyl.  The joint operation included the West Virginia State Police, Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, and the FBI.  The street value of drugs seized was close to $10 million. Arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
