MSP Trooper 5 over North End in Cumberland

Maryland State Aviation Unit,Trooper 5 requested early this morning around 4AM from the Cumberland City Police to assist with the search in the North end of Cumberland. Law Enforcement refuse to say what the active search was or provide additional comment. 

Cumberland Historic Cemetery Organization to hold Annual Memorial Service

 The Cumberland Historic Cemetery Organization will hold their annual memorial service and history reading for area American Revolutionary War Veterans on July 4th at 10AM. The event will begin at CHCO Headquarters 400 S. Allegany St. Cumb. The site of the Capt. David Lynn estate. In 2008 the CHCO installed a monument at the columns to honor Capt. Lynn and over two centuries of great American history and heritage. Several elected officials will speak along with representatives of several other historical organizations. Driving Under the Influence Arrest

On June 30th, 2023 an officer of the Cumberland Police department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Henderson Avenue. Upon the officer’s contact with the operator, Frederick Carolan, they observed evidence of impairment. Officers requested Carolan to perform standardized field sobriety, which he refused, and he was subsequently placed under arrest. Carolan was later released on driving under the influence related charges. Arrest: Frederick Louis Carolan, age 53, Cumberland Maryland. Charges: Driving Under the Influence Related Citations.

Violation of Court Order

On June 30th, 2023 officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 400 block of Grand Avenue for a reported violation of protective a order. Upon officer’s arrival they spoke with persons at the residence who advised that Jason Winfield was inside the residence in violation of a protective order. Officers were able to locate Winfield and he was subsequently placed under arrest. Winfield was taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was released on his own recognizance. Basecamp to Open Downtown Location

Basecamp Coffee will be opening a second location in downtown Cumberland.  The new location will be in the Rosenbaum Building at 118 Baltimore Street.  CG Enterprises is working with Hayden Ort-Ulm, owner of Basecamp in Cumberland.  The anticipated opening is this fall.  Just a week ago CG Enterprises announced that D’Atri’s Pasta and Subs will be moving into the McMullen Building downtown.

Air Quality Alert Friday for Western Maryland

The Maryland Department of the Environment has issued a Code ORANGE Air Quality Alert Friday for Western Maryland. A Code Orange Air Quality Alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups. Sensitive groups include children, people suffering from asthma, heart disease or other lung diseases and the elderly. The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors.   

CDS Arrest Maryland Avenue

On Thursday, June 29, 2023 at approximately 2:24 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 900 block of Maryland Avenue for the report of subjects using CDS inside a vehicle.  Officers arrived and located the vehicle.  Officers contacted the occupant of the vehicle, Jonathen Wickline, and found him to be in possession of suspected Fentanyl.  Wickline was arrested and transported to police headquarters.  He was issued a criminal citation and released pending trial. CRIMINAL SUMMONS SERVED

On Thursday, June 29, 2023, the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Jessica Metty.  The summons was issued as the result of an incident that occurred on June 22, 2023.  On this date at approximately 9:54 AM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 100 block of Baltimore Street for a violation of a court order.  It was reported that Metty violated a Final Peace Order.  After further investigation, police filed for charges against Metty at the District Court of Allegany County.  Metty signed for her copy of the summons and she was released pending trial….

BENCH WARRANTS SERVED

On Thursday, June 29, 2023, the Cumberland Police Department served two bench warrants on Geordy White.  The warrant was issued as the result of White failing to appear in court on June 26, 2023.  He was originally charged with 2 counts of Do Not Possess Valid Rabies Certificate.  White was arrested and transported to Central Booking.  He was later seen by a District Court Commissioner for his initial hearing and released on his personal recognizance.
