Part of River Park Sediment Test Will Be Paid By Cumberland

October 13th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

One of the most important steps in the River Park project is sediment testing of the Potomac River that passes under the Blue Bridge heading to Ridgeley. The price for that testing is over half a million dollars. Funding for half the cost is coming from the Appalachian Regional Commission. According to Cumberland City Administrator Jeff Silka, other stakeholders are helping the Canal Place Authority to make up the difference…

“That is a $600,000 study that is the next step in the development, and it’s funded by a $300,000 ARC grant, and then the Canal Place Authority is asking the city, the county, and themselves to put in $100,000 to cover this.”
