Police Log – 11/14/14

On Thursday November 13, 2014, Cumberland City Police served a bench warrant of Jose Gomes, age 27 of Cumberland.  The warrant was issued as a result of Gomes failing to appear for trial on October 30, 2014 for a previous Disturbing the Peace arrest.  Gomes was processed and served and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing.  He was held on a $5,000.00 preset bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.

CHARGE:  Bench Warrant-Fail to Appear.

ASSAULT

On Thursday November 13, 2014, at 11:29 pm, Cumberland City Police investigated a firearms complaint that occurred on Helen Street.  Investigation into this matter revealed that the two victims made a wrong turn onto Helen Street.  For reasons unknown, Jamaine Johnson, age 33 of Cumberland, ran towards the victim’s vehicle and allegedly pulled a handgun out of his waistband and pointed it at the victims.  The victims were safely able to drive away.  Johnson was located at his residence and was placed under arrest.  The weapon used was found to be a C0-2 powered air soft handgun.  Johnson was processed, served and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s for a bond hearing.  Johnson was released after posting a $3,000.00 bond.

CHARGES:  1st Degree Assault (2 counts), 2nd Degree Assault (2 counts), Reckless Endangerment
(2 counts).
