Police Make Arrest After Witnessing Drug Deal

On Thursday, April 21, 2022 at approximately 7:03 PM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department observed a drug transaction take place in the area of Fulton Street at Decatur Street.  The officer contacted the two subjects involved and detained them for further investigation.  Upon confronting one of the subjects, Shane York, the officer was met with non-compliance.  York was uncooperative and created a disturbance which was observed by civilians.  York refused to listen to the officer’s orders, assaulted the officer, and resisted arrest.  A quantity of controlled dangerous substance was located during the arrest.  York was transported to the police station for processing and then taken to Central Booking.  He was later seen by a District Court Commissioner who remanded him to the Allegany County Detention Center held without bond.

CHARGES:  Possession with Intent to Distribute Narcotics, Distributing Narcotics, Possession-Not Marijuana, Disorderly Conduct, Assault-2nd Degree, Failure to Obey a Reasonable & Lawful Order, Resisting Arrest
