A Fells Point rally on Saturday kicked off a nationwide movement to bring attention to changes in Social Security. Protests centered against plans to completely stop paper checks for social security recipients in an attempt to modernize the system. Senator Chris Van Hollen say one million Marylanders receive some kind of social security and changes in January hurt recipients…
“Very hard for anyone to get through on the phone lines. The wait times were over five hours in some cases if you could get through at all. The website became inaccessible.”
Former SSA Administrator Martin O’Malley says the changes are an attempt to privatize social security…
“Why do they need to wereck its reputation and its customer service? Because once they break it, they’ll create an emergency situation and only if they turn enough Americans against it will they be able to get away with robbing it of your money – $2.6 trillion dollars.”
