At approximately 0857hours Deputies of the Allegany County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to 21409 McMullen Highway for a residential alarm. Prior to arrival, an additional call regarding the same residence was received at the 911 center advising there were several young children inside the residence who had locked themselves in a closet advising they were scared due to the alarm and were alone.
Once on scene, it was determined that three juveniles (age 11), (age 7), and (age 1) was home alone without any adults present. Contact with the children's mother Sheena Rae Alston was unsuccessful multiple times. At approximately 0948 Sheena arrived home from the Cumberland Methadone clinic (Western Maryland Recovery Services). Sheena stated when she left this morning at approximately 0830 the children were asleep.
NO ADULTS WERE PRESENT WITH THE CHILDREN FROM THE HOURS OF APPROXIMATELY 0830-0948
Sheena was taken into custody and transported to the Allegany County Detention Center where she awaits her initial appearance before a commissioner.
