On December 12, 2011 at approximately 12:10 p.m., Troopers from the MSP Cumberland Barrack were at a private residence located on Hawk Street, Rawlings, Maryland conducting an investigation.  When Troopers arrived at the residence, it was discovered that an entrance door to the residence was damaged and unsecured.  Entry was made into the residence by Troopers to check on the well being of the occupants.  Once inside the residence, the sixty-nine (69) year old female homeowner was located inside the residence, with her legs and arms tied together.  No one else was located inside the residence.  Cresaptown Volunteer Rescue Squad was dispatched to the residence and transported the victim to Western Maryland Regional Hospital for medical treatment.   Deputies from the Allegany County Sheriff’s Department also responded to the scene to assist and investigators from the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigative Unit (C3I) were called to conduct an investigation.

Initial investigation revealed that three (3) masked males forcibly entered the victim’s residence the previous night at approximately 8:00 P.M. and confronted the victim.  The suspects tied the victim’s legs and arms together and then proceeded to ransack the residence. The suspects removed firearms from the residence and fled from the residence, leaving the victim securely tied.  The victim was unable to call for help due to having her legs and arms tied together.   The suspects were described as being all males with each one being over 5’-08” tall and all three were wearing dark clothing and masks.

Members of the Maryland State Police K-9 Unit responded to the scene in an attempt to obtain a track on where the suspects fled to, with negative results.  The Maryland State Police Crime Lab also responded to the scene and processed the scene.
