The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will temporarily close the shoulders on I-68 in Garrett County in both east and west directions beginning Thursday, May 4, at milepost 17.5. The closures are needed so that crews can safely repair a pipe that carries Spiker Run. Crews will begin the project Thursday and will work 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, weather permitting, until completed. The work is expected to continue through the summer, and during that period some intermittent single-lane closures also will be needed.
