SHA Sets More Work On I 70 Bridge In Washington County

April 11th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

On Sunday, April 15, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will shift traffic to the collector/distributor (CD) lane on the westbound I-70 Bridge over I-81. The traffic shift will enable crews to begin working on the right side of the bridge as part of the $9.1 million bridge rehabilitation project. The shift is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. on Sunday and the new traffic pattern will be in place by 5 a.m., Monday, April 16.

MDOT SHA’s contractor, Triton Construction, Inc. of St. Albans, WV, will use arrow boards and construction barrels to close single lanes during the traffic shift. For additional information on the bridge rehabilitation project, log onto http://apps.roads.maryland.gov/WebProjectLifeCycle/ProjectInformation.aspx?projectno=WA2165121. The entire project should be complete spring 2019.

While MDOT SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands.
