Allegany County Commissioners President Jake Shade says he hopes Governor Larry Hogan is a man of his word when it comes to committing to Western Maryland. The governor surprised, and disappointed most local elected officials last week when he said he would support a permanent ban on fracking. The District 1 delegation and the County Commissioners were strong advocates of fracking, hoping that the industry would create a much needed revenue stream for the region. After rejecting fracking, Hogan committed to pushing for other initiatives designed to help the struggling economies and Allegany and Garrett counties.
