State Police Having Difficult Time Recruiting New Officers

With the homicide rate hitting record numbers in recent years in Maryland, State Police Major Greg Shipley says recruiting for new officers is not as easy as it used to be. WBAL reports that the Maryland State Police is short 100 troopers.  Shipley says state officials have been working with the Baltimore Police Department in light of recent crime and noted Governor Larry Hogan has helped his department fill some vacancies. He also said it is difficult to recruit troopers and law enforcement is no longer a top 10 career choice…
