Although the numbers are not yet official, Allegany County School Superintendent David Cox announced earlier this week that it appears there will be another decline in student enrollment numbers for the coming year. It’s a trend that began in the early part of the 1970’s and although it has leveled off somewhat- the student losses continue. Former Board of Education member Jeff Metz said that the board commissioned a study on student population- as required by law- prior to the start of construction on the new Allegany High School.
